Unlocking Start-up potential in the United Arab Emirates

Thinking Arabian supports and advises German-speaking companies on successful market development and networking in the Arab world. Based in Germany and the UAE, and with many years of expertise in the cultural, economic and political realities of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, we are your partner for successful business relationships in the Arab world. The increasing relevance of the region for startups (and vice versa) was the reason for our event to bring the various stakeholders together.

100 startups and companies, 15 contributions and 2 days full of networking – this is how we look back on the event “Unlocking Startup Potential in the UAE” in Munich, which we organized and carried out on behalf of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The events, at UnternehmerTUM and Siemens, were as diverse as the participants – from startups to SMEs and multinational corporations – with the aim of getting to know market potential and opportunities in the UAE or expanding existing commitment as innovation drivers, such as that of the participants Bayer and Siemens, in the future.
“We are not against oil, but for the future” – This statement by Emirati Ambassador H.E. Ahmed Alattar made it clear that the UAE has long been actively thinking beyond its traditional sources of income and proactively investing in sustainable and future-oriented technologies. For German companies, this means the opportunity to tap into a dynamic market and tech-friendly environment that is full of opportunities and focused on innovation and progress.

A high-caliber delegation from the UAE presented various cooperation opportunities – from the promotion of startups through the accelerator HUB71, to the cooperation of German companies with scientific institutions such as the Higher Colleges of Technology and the Advanced Technology and Research Council, the networking opportunities of the World Government Summit, to market entry via a free zone such as IFZA and CommerCity.

The many start-ups and companies from the fields of AI & Mobility, Food & Agritech and Circular Economy were particularly impressive. Exciting presentations and discussions offered insights into the future of technology and business: topics such as the use of AI in robotics and mobility as well as ensuring food security in times of changing geopolitics took center stage. The event also offered numerous networking opportunities to exchange ideas directly with stakeholders from both countries.

This event clearly showed: The future is international and full of exciting opportunities and Thinking Arabian looks forward to supporting you on your journey to the UAE and wider Gulf region.
